Blue has been a devoted companion to Captain Dan Barker, USAF, since he purchased him from Turner's Shepherds in 1999. A friendship that proved to be a blessing in the lives of two people during two separate incidents.

During one of their outings, Dan and Blue pulled up beside a pickup truck containing an unrestrained Pit Bull dog. As Dan and Blue were getting out of their vehicle, the Pit Bull jumped out of the truck bed and proceeded to charge toward a young girl. With no command or prompting, Blue immediately gave pursuit and placed himself between the child and the Pit Bull. Despite receiving injuries to himself, Blue protected the girl and kept her from harm until the Pit Bull was captured.

Amazingly, the following year at Dan's parents house, Blue once again came to the rescue. During a family get-together, one of the Barker's granddaughters slipped beneath the pool's surface. Blue jumped in the pool and not only dragged the child to the surface, but held her head above water till the adults were able to get to them.

Blue is truly an INCREDIBLE GSD!
