Many people are surprised to learn that the German Shepherd Dog (GSD) is part of the herding dog group; as they associate them with Police K9's and expect to find them in the working dog group.  The GSD could be considered one of the original multi-taskers.

There is not one job that the GSD does that some other breed can't do as well if not better.  The difference -- the GSD can do ALL of them and do them ALL well.  Where other breeds have been breed and developed to excel at a particular task, the GSD is a capable of filling virtually any need put to it.

They can herd, protect, guard, serve, entertain, and comfort.  They are prized for their loyalty, intelligence, adaptability and sense of humor.
